Choosing The Right Fire
If you’re considering purchasing a stove, there are several things to think about before making your decision. From the role it will play in your home to the fuel you will use, our quick guide will help you decide what factors are most important to you when purchasing your stove. Stoves come in an array of colors, shapes and sizes. Some are designed to heat a specific room; others heat water or the entire house. Some stoves are simply beautiful to look at.
If you’re looking for a stove to heat up a particular area of your home, measure the room first and find out the size of the stove required. As a rule of thumb, we suggest you allow 1kW of heat output for every 14 cubic metres (about 150 square feet) of space. For example, to achieve a room temperature of 21 degrees C (70 F), you would need about 2kW.
Wood Burning & Multi-fuel Stoves
A multi-fuel stove can burn logs, peat, or other solid fuels. It has an ash pan and a grate that allows air to enter from the bottom, so it burns more efficiently than a traditional open fire. Wood-burning stoves have flat beds for logs instead of grates. Today, A twin-wall pipe system allows homeowners without chimneys to benefit from the ambience and focal point created by either a wood burning or multi-fuel stove. Stovax offers the largest range of Ecodesign stoves and fires in the UK.
Electric Stoves
Gazco electric stoves can be installed and used with ease. You can choose from a variety of designs, including traditional and modern styles, to suit your home or business location. Their stoves use VeriFlame technology to produce realistic flames and controls are discreetly located under the stove, so they don’t take up room. Chromalight LED lighting technology can be incorporated into some electric stoves to create a variety of visuals and mood lighting.
Gas Stoves
You might prefer a gas stove if you can’t have a solid fuel one or if you like the look of a gas stove. Gas stoves are often very similar to solid fuel ones, but some are different in appearance.
Gas stoves are convenient to operate and provide warmth and ambient light at the touch of a button. The realistic fire effects of a gas stove make your living room or fireplace resemble a cozy hearth. Gas stoves from Gazco come with either log fuel beds or coal fuel beds, giving you the option to choose a realistic fire effect and ambiance appropriate for your tastes.
